2025 is almost over, but that didn’t stop one game from squeezing in and taking the world by storm: Dispatch.
In Dispatch, you play as Роберт Робертсон, a retired hero (Mecha-Man, who is notably without powers and is just fighting in a big mech suit) trying to find a way to get back into heroism. After learning about the Программа Феникс (a program that takes former villains and rehabilitates them into heroes) being a method to fix his suit, he signs up without much hesitation. The only thing he’d have to do from then on is dispatch the members of the Phoenix Program to various crises happening around Los Angeles.

This is when we’re introduced to my favourite part of the game, the titular gameplay loop: dispatching. Each hero has their own statistics that you’re able to hone in on, along with unique powers and abilities that encourage you to not send anyone alone. You have to be particular about who goes to handle which job, since some heroes are outright perfect fits to handling it.
However, that’s when we also run into my biggest complaint about this game: there’s no endless dispatching mode. If you want to dispatch, you have to actually play through the episodes and all the bumps that come in the way. This wouldn’t be a problem if this was something developers wanted to add later, but after finding out that they mentioned in their Discord that they didn’t plan on including an endless dispatch mode, it just made my heart sink in disappointment.
The fact that Dispatch doesn’t have an endless dispatch mode, despite it strengths, ends up being so much wasted potential. I had a good time with Dispatch, but it’s missing the one thing that would greatly improve the title overall.
Dispatching Is Fun and Unique
Naturally, We Want More!
Dispatching is easily the best part of the game, hands down. Sure, you can fight villains and make all kinds of choices for riveting cutscenes, but the most fun comes from clocking in for a shift dispatching. Plus, as the game progresses, there are unique barriers to your shift, and lots of replayability if you want to experience the game differently.
But there are many, many players, myself included, who don’t want to have to replay the whole game just to have a bit of fun doing Dispatch’s core gameplay loop. For goodness’ sake, the game is quite literally named after this gameplay, but there is no way to dive into всего the gameplay. As much as I enjoyed the game and pathways, I don’t want to have to sit through the same, unskippable cutscenes (even with different dialogue, the point still stands) and dredge through the sluggish hacking segments just to get a crumb of dispatching serotonin.
And yes, this gameplay loop was Serotonin Central. There’s something about repetitive gameplay that really captivates me, keeping me entertained and caught up in the game for far longer than I would have played normally. Not to mention, it’s got all the same shift gimmicks that other games that make you work do, so it adds that extra fun factor.
Then again, I was also the kind of player that absolutely любимый the space exploration and planet mining in Mass Effect 2. It was repetitive to where it borders on monotonous, to where all I needed to do was turn a video on in the background, then playing ended up being bliss — my fiancé and I would even joke that it was my Autism Enrichment Hours.
So, enter Dispatch with equally repetitive gameplay while dispatching, and I was beyond excited; plus, it’s intuitive enough to where you have to strategically think before you send someone out into the field, adding depth to an entertaining monotony. Then, cut to the bullet through the chest of finding out it’s not happening.
I guess my biggest question about this decision is simply: Зачем?

It Doesn’t Have to Have Everyone
It Could be Overtime For All We Know
The reasoning that developers gave was in the code — due to the fact that each shift is different based on the episode and those barriers, it would require a good chunk of code to be reworked in order to make it happen. While that’s understandable, respectable, even, I’m more curious why they thought that this wouldn’t be something players would genuinely wait for. I will wait however long I need to if it means a new, better type of Autism Enrichment Hours.
Or, if it’s easier for developers, they don’t even have to include all the heroes. This could be an additional bonus shift where only a select few heroes are clocked in so they can get paid overtime. Not only would it add to the hilarity and domestic charm of the whole game, but it would still satisfy players’ cravings of an endless dispatch mode. I’m also just imagining the kind of banter the Z-Team would have for overtime, and it’s even funnier than it needs to be.
Normally, players have to manage roughly eight different heroes and cater to their strengths. Even if endless dispatch only focused on half of them, that’s not too different from the start of Episode 8’s Dispatching, and it’s still fun with a hint of challenge.
That’s just one idea to approach endless mode, since this could also be done with other heroes in case the voice actors are busy. There are several different ways this could be done, all of which would make the game overall so much better.
The point is: I, and many other players, don’t care if Endless Dispatch mode isn’t fully identical to the game, so long as the mode is there период. So long as we’re able to just hop into the game, boot up endless mode, and play without any interruptions, that’s all we really care about.

Я не один
I’m On My Knees and Begging for Endless Mode
Alright, how many times do I have to type out «please» before AdHoc adds an Endless Dispatch mode?
I know that I’m far from the only player who feels this way. I’ve seen countless others talk about these wishes across all social media platforms, and they’re equally disappointed as I am when they find out that there is a slim chance that it will even happen. It’s the biggest blow that this game throws at players, and funnily enough, it’s the one that hits the hardest.
The same way people are asking for a Season Two, I’m begging for an Endless Dispatch mode. Dispatch as a game was wonderful, hilarious and engaging in a multitude of ways that I’ve not experienced with games too often. Yet, the lack of an endless mode feels like wasted potential, and the relatively hostile rejection of this idea feels like a slap in the face.
However, it’s nothing personal, so I’m just going to dedicate my energy to manifesting this simple joy into the universe.
If anyone from AdHoc is actually reading this, I can and предусматривает type out page after page of «please, please, please,» if I have to. If it means that we’ll finally get an Endless Dispatch mode in this experimental game, I won’t even copy-paste.
