Just in case you didn’t realize just how long Grand Theft Auto 5 has been the current game in the franchise, Rockstar has given players of GTA Online a gift celebrating the anniversary of the mode, which was added to the game 12 years ago today.
Those who play the online mode may know that it gives out gifts for various anniversaries and milestones, such as a set of shirts for Rockstar’s anniversary back in 2023.
GTA Online also started giving players party hats to celebrate their in-game birthdays back in 2023, the mode’s tenth anniversary, with numbers 1-11 available depending on how many years ago the character was made.
That has continued for its twelfth year (via RockstarINTEL), with the new 12 hat available today for players with characters made back in 2013.
Party Hats For Years To Come?
Back in 2023, when the birthday hats were added, there were leaks that showed hats numbering up to 15, which, at this point, we know to be well after the scheduled launch for Grand Theft Auto 6 on May 26, 2026.
That would also line up with the current party outfits available, with players who have stuck around for 5 years getting a bronze one and those who’ve played for a full decade getting silver, implying that there would be a gold suit once they hit 15 years, but that also depends on how Rockstar handles the shift to GTA 6 and its online mode.
That either means that the current GTA Online will continue to see some level of support after the sequel releases, even though it’s slated to have its own online mode, or Rockstar was just covering their bases in case the game got delayed more than planned.
If nothing else, it suggests that there may at least be something for those who don’t immediately jump ship to the new one once it launches, especially if there does end up being a 15-year gold party suit.
