Getting more Magicka in Oblivion will allow you to cast more spells, and even cast higher-power ones if you’ve got enough Magicka to use them.
As a quick recap, Magicka is what you need to use magic (spells) in Oblivion. Each time you cast a spell, you’ll use up Magicka, and each spell has a unique Magicka cost. The more Magicka you have, the more spells you can use which is especially useful if you’ve made a spellcaster character.

How to get more Magicka in Oblivion
In Oblivion you can get more Magicka by choosing certain Birthsigns for your character, collecting Sigil Stones from Oblivion Gates, wear certain items or enchant them to boost Magicka и by increasing your Intelligence.
In short, you’ve got quite a lot of options for boosting your Magicka, but let’s go into more detail about each one.

The Birthsign you choose for your character can increase your Magicka from the beginning, but the strongest effects do have consequences to them.
These are the Birthsigns that will boost your Magicka:
- Ученик — Gives you +100 points to Magicka (but gives you 100% weakness to Magic.)
- Маг — Permanent bonus of +50 points to Magicka.
- Атронах — Base Magicka is increased by 150 points, but you can’t regain Magicka over but you have a 50% spell absorption to recharge Magicka instead.
The best birthsign to boost your Magicka is The Apprentice as it gives +100 points to your Magicka, but if you don’t want to have the any negative effects from your choice, then you should choose The Mage instead as this gives you a permanent +50 to your Magicka without any consequences.

The Intelligence attribute determines your maximum Magicka count. The better this attribute is, the more Magicka you have and can use. Not to be confused with Willpower, which affects how fast your Magicka recharges, Intelligence is the attribute you should focus on increasing if you want more Magicka.
Also, some Races give you an Intellgience boost right away, which goes towards getting you more Magicka:

Also, you can create spells and potions to increase your Intelligence which in turn will eventually boost your Magicka.
Сигильские камни
You collect Sigil Stones by completing and closing Oblivion Gates. However, getting a Fortify Magicka Sigil Stone isn’t guarunteed as there are multiple other effects you can collect, including one that actually Damages Magicka instead. Once you do find one with this effect, it’s worth hanging on to it until you find an item you want to enchant with it.
Magicka Boosting Items
Some items you can collect, like Rings, can come with a Magicka Boosting effect that will (obviously) increase your Magicka. As we said above, you can also use Fortify Magicka Sigil Stones to enchant items you already own to have a Magicka Boosting effect.
