The beta for Battlefield 6 was a huge success, but EA has revealed that there will be a lot of changes in the full game when it releases later this week.

The game will be seeing a sizable day one patch those who preloaded (or got the game early, as it were) will need to download that, according to EA, contains over 200 changes.

They haven’t revealed most of what those changes include, but what they have shown spans almost every kind imaginable, including revised map layouts, rebalanced weapons, clearer HUD elements, and more, along with rationale for some of the updates they’re implementing based on feedback from the beta.

If you’re interested in reading through some specific changes coming in that day one patch, you can check out the Community Update and see for yourself.

DICE had lots of data to work with when it comes to learning what the community wants, given the success of the beta test.

They have even more than Treyarch will for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, based just on Steam numbers.

The beta test for Black Ops 7 is still ongoing, but, just based on Steam player counts, both the d and open tests for Battlefield 6 saw significantly higher numbers (via Insider Gaming).

По факту, the open beta saw over five times as many players as Black Ops 7’s beta, peaking at 521,079 concurrent players compared to Black Ops 7’s peak of 99,574 (which does include players in Black Ops 6 and Warzone), along with significantly higher viewership on Twitch.

EA has been leaning into the competition between the two juggernaut FPS franchises, even taking shots at Call of Duty in an ad for Battlefield 6, and it has been reported by The Game Business that the beta may have even been enough to sway some CoD fans.

Analysts have also predicted impressive launch week sales for Battlefield 6.

Regardless of whether Battlefield or Call of Duty had the more successful beta tests, both DICE and Treyarch are clearly receptive to community feedback, and are actively implementing changes based on what the community wants, and DICE at least is evidently willing to be transparent about how that feedback translates to tangible gameplay changes.

In that sense, combined with the massive player count difference, Battlefield 6 seems to have come out on top when it comes to comparing the two new shooters’ betas, but we don’t have long to wait to see if that translates into post-launch and long-term success.
